Carlos Fernando Collares possui graduação em Medicina pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (2002), especialização em Medicina do Trabalho pela Universidade de São Paulo (2003), mestrado em Psicologia (Neurociências e Comportamento) pela Universidade de São Paulo (2006) e doutorado em Psicologia pela Universidade São Francisco (2015). Possui formação complementar em Aprendizagem Baseada em Problemas, Pesquisa em Educação Médica, Construção de Cursos e Currículos em Educação Médica e Avaliação de Competências Profissionais pela Universidade de Maastricht (2009-2015), e em Análise de Regressão Multinível, Modelagem de Equações Estruturais e Análise de Dados Longitudinais pela Universidade de Utrecht (2011-2013).
