Paula Cristiana Costa Garcia da Silva Patrício is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at NOVA FCT, Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She obtained her Ph.D. in Mathematics from Universidade de Lisboa in 2009, with a thesis on tuberculosis modelling. Her research focuses on differential equations and mathematical models for infectious diseases, with special emphasis on integrating human behaviour into epidemic models. She has applied these approaches to study disease control strategies, including vaccination, non-pharmaceutical interventions, and behavioural responses. Paula is Co-PI of the project Mathematical Modelling of Multi-scale Control Systems: applications to human diseases (2023–2026) and was PI of Game theory and epidemiology (2014–2016). She was a researcher in the national COVID-19 modelling project COVID-19 in-CTRL (2020–2022). She has supervised Ph.D. and M.Sc. theses on advanced epidemiological modelling, including models with distributed contacts and reaction-diffusion structures. Paula regularly teaches mathematical epidemiology and participates in the organization of scientific events in biomathematics. She is an active member of ESMTB and the Portuguese Mathematical Society.
