Sofia Pinto (Sophie Pinto) holds a BA in Acting from The Lisbon Theatre and Cinema School (2007), and a Master´s degree in Culture Studies from Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) (2015), with a dissertation thesis on street art and the Berlin Wall. In 2014 she was granted a scholarship in scientific initiation research from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) at the Research Centre for Communication and Culture at UCP. She completed her Ph.D. degree in Culture Studies at Universidade Católica Portuguesa and the University of Copenhagen with a FCT scholarship. Her Ph.D. thesis Urban Failures & Other Imaginations: Walking, Writing, and Transgressing the Gendered City won the international award in Culture Studies Virgínia Quaresma of Best Thesis (2022). She has worked as a performer, performing arts director, producer, translator, and teacher. Her main interests are performing arts, urban art practices, resistance, memory, migration, and gender. She is currently a researcher at CECC and an assistant professor at UCP.
