V. C. M. Duarte received her PhD in Sciences from the University of Minho (Portugal) in 2014, working on “Synthesis of Iminosugars Through Diastereo/Enantioselective Diels–Alder Cycloaddition” (FCT grant SFRH/BD/61290/2009). She then spent 19 months as a postdoctoral researcher in the project “Concise and Highly Stereoselective Strategy in the Synthesis of Aza-sugars”, where she performed synthesis and biological evaluation of products, supervised MSc and BSc students, and was responsible for laboratory safety and management (procurement, stock control). She also held teaching appointments: Invited Professor (equivalent to Auxiliary Professor) at the University of Minho (2013–2015), lecturing Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry Laboratories, and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (2014/2015), teaching General Chemistry. Between 2016 and 2017, as a R&D scientist at CUF–Químicos Industriais S.A., she worked on the “B2A – Benzene to Aniline” project (with FEUP and the University of Aveiro), transitioning to Chemical Engineering. Her functions included studying reaction mechanisms, developing a kinetic model for an electrochemical process, simulating reactor conditions, and determining adsorption isotherms using a magnetic suspension balance. She additionally gained skills in gas chromatography method development, electrochemical characterisation, handling electrochemical reactors, and constructing gas/vapour feed systems. In 2018, she joined LEPABE (UPorto) within the consortium project “WinPSC – Novos avanços tecnológicos para a terceira geração de células solares sensibilizadas com perovskita”, focusing on the development of efficient, stable and environmentally safe PSCs. She was responsible for fabricating large-area devices and for developing highly conductive glass substrates with engraved current collectors (active areas up to 25 cm²). Since March 2019, she has been a Junior Researcher in the FCT project “SolarPerovskite”, dedicated to scaling up PSC technology. She pioneered the application of engraved metal lines on TCO-glass substrates to enhance conductivity, work that earned her the Best Work Related to PV Applications award at HOPE-PV 2020. From 2022 to 2025, she served as Assistant Researcher and co-PI of the FCT project “InPSC – Inverted perovskite solar cells” (PTDC/EQU-EQU/4193/2021). Between April and December 2025, she integrated the research team of the high-impact project “H2DrivenGreenAgenda” (C644923817-00000037), contributing with her multidisciplinary expertise. In parallel, an FCT-funded project proposal coordinated by her was approved, and she is currently PI of the Perovskite4Space project. She has authored 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and delivered over 30 conference presentations. She completed the supervision of 7 undergraduate students, 4 MSc and 1 PhD, and is currently supervising 2 MSc and 2 PhD students.
