I am a young junior researcher in UCIBIO at the Faculty of Science and Technology, NOVA University of Lisbon (FCT-NOVA), Portugal. I took my BSc degree in Biochemistry (2011) and MSc in Biotechnology (2013) at NOVA University of Lisbon. Later on, I obtained my PhD within the context of Marie Sklodowska-Curie PhD Network (TOLLerant-ETN 604 action) (2015-2019) and of Dual Degree PhD program between NOVA University Lisbon, Portugal (PhD in Biochemistry) and University of the Basque Country, Spain (PhD in Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry), awarded twice as Best Thesis Prize by Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (Carbohydrate group (GE-HIC-RSEQ) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Group (GE-RMN -RSEQ)). My research interest has been focused on the field of Glycosciences and molecular recognition, in particular with NMR techniques. During the past years, I have contributed to a better understanding of the molecular basis in protein-glycan interactions. This has been achieved by the study of the recognition of glyco-antigens by human immune-lectins in cancer/bacterial infections and unravel the molecular mechanism of O-glycosylation process, based on chemoenzymatic synthesis (using Mucin-1 and GalNAc-transferases, monitored by NMR). Currently, I published 23 original research articles, reviews and book chapters, with a total of 449 citations (h-index 12) (according to Scopus - 27/02/2024). Also, I got involved in several research projects, collaborating with several international universities and research institutes, and attended more than 15 national and international conferences. Lastly, I have been awarded with a contract in the competitive 2020 Individual Scientific Employment Stimulus Competition (CEEC), call promoted by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT). I was also able to attract national funding as principal investigator of two research project (EXPL/QUI-OUT/0069/2021, 50KE & 2023.00074.RESTART, 50KE). I supervised the 2 MSc thesis, and 5 BSc students and 2 research fellows.
