John Charles Willman completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 2016 and Master in Arts (A.M.) in 2011 at Washington University in Saint Louis, (Missouri, USA). He received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in 2009 from The University of Iowa. He has published 21 articles in scientific journals and contributed 6 chapters to edited book volumes. John is trained in biological anthropology, human gross anatomy, and archaeology with active research in paleoanthropology, bioarchaeology, and dental anthropology. John integrates a broad range of research microscopic, macroscopic, and virtual methodologies to reconstruct the lifeways of Pleistocene humans (namely, Neandertals and early modern humans) and Holocene foraging and food producing peoples. His research explores biocultural approaches to the human behaviors through the examination of the complex interplay between human biology, environment, and culture. His areas of research specialization include analyses of human dental wear, diet reconstruction, human paleobiology, body modification, bioarchaeological approaches to human social identities, functional morphology, and virtual anthropology among other topics.
