Dr. Zohra Benzarti Khalfallah is an accomplished researcher with over two decades of expertise in physics and materials science, focusing on innovation in multifunctional materials for optoelectronics, and energy applications. Holding a Ph.D. in Physics from the Université de Tunis El Manar, Tunisia (2006) with honors, an HDR qualification (2016) for supervising research activities from the Université de Monastir, and an Advanced Specialization in Intelligent Manufacturing qualification (2021) from the University of Coimbra. Dr. Benzarti has an extensive publication record, with 54 research contributions, including 47 high-impact journal articles and two books, which have collectively accumulated 786 citations and earned her an h-index of 16 on Google Scholar. She has also delivered 31 oral presentations at national and international conferences. She has been a researcher at the University of Aveiro in CICECO research center, she plays a key role in advanced projects such as Additive Manufacturing for Smart Plastics (AM4SP), where she applies her expertise in nanomaterials and electromagnetic characterization to innovative industrial applications. Currently, she is an active researcher at University of Coimbra in CEMMPRE center working in the framework of Projects, such as ILLIANCE, ActiveCaTh and Drivolution. Her technical proficiency encompasses a broad range of advanced material characterization techniques, including HR-DRX, SEM, TEM, Nanoindentation, and UV-visible spectroscopy, paired with simulation tools like Simulia CST Studio. Dr. Benzarti is highly collaborative, having contributed to six research projects and co-led efforts in developing innovative nanostructured materials, such as doped ZnO nanoparticles, hybrid perovskites, and III-V semiconductors for applications in energy storage, LEDs, and optoelectronics. She has an extensive collaboration network, including Tunisia, Algeria, Morrocco, France and Portugal (in Aveiro, Braga, Porto and Coimbra). In addition to her research, Dr. Benzarti has served as a guest editor for three special issues in Coatings and Energies Journals. Furthermore, she edited a book titled Recent Advances in the Development of Thin Films. Dr. Benzarti’s mentorship capabilities are equally impressive, having supervised five Ph.D. candidates (two completed, three ongoing) and six Master’s students. With over 20 years of teaching experience in materials physics, she has consistently bridged academia and industry. A recognized leader in her field, she has served as a keynote speaker at international conferences, such as the TRAMP Symposium and IEEE Materials Meetings, and as a reviewer for over 20 leading journals, completing 66 reviews for MDPI publications alone.
