Carlos Rocha Gomes got his Chemistry graduation (1985) from Faculty of Sciences and Technology of University of Coimbra and got his PhD in Chemistry (1999) from Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto. Assistant Professor at Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, Faculty of Science, University of Porto since 1987. Researcher of CIQ(UP), (1987¿1994) and LAQUIPAI (1994¿2007), he is currently a Researcher at CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research in the ¿Bioremediation and ecosystems functioning¿ research team. His domain of specialization is Inorganic Environmental Chemistry. He developed Scientific research in the Environmental Chemistry area, namely kinetic and thermodynamic studies of the interactions of metals with soluble or particulate heterogeneous ligands and study the role of particulate heterogeneous ligands on metal speciation. He developed Scientific research in: Natural Sciences with an emphasis on Earth and Environmental Sciences. Earth and Environmental Sciences with an emphasis on Atmospheric Sciences. Exact Sciences with an emphasis on Chemistry with an emphasis on Polymer Science, Exact Sciences with an emphasis on Chemistry with an emphasis on Analytical Chemistry, He received a pedagogical praise awarded by the FCUP student association.
