I’m a Geospatial Data Scientist with over a decade of experience. Skilled in geostatistical modeling, machine learning, deep learning, data mining, GIS and data visualization. My main research interests are related to modeling and uncertainty assessment of natural resource systems. Tackling natural phenomena and environmental challenges through research and education. I have a degree in geology, a master’s degree in mining and geological engineering and obtained a PhD in Earth Resources. I started my professional career as a field geologist and laboratory technician. Afterwards, I became head of department at a provider of geotechnical services. At the present, I’m a research fellow in CERENA, a Research and Development Unit (R&D) from the core of the Portuguese scientific and technological system. As of Fall 2014 I’m also a teaching assistant at Lisbon University, Instituto Superior Técnico, where I have been teaching several lectures for the Master's in Geological and Mining Engineering Program, Environmental Engineering program and Energy Resources Engineering program.
