Mahmoud Tavakoli. is Associate professor at department of Electrical Engineering of University of Coimbra. He received a MSc in Advanced Manufacturing from Sharif University of Technology, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from University of Coimbra in 2010. His current field of research includes stretchable electronics, printed electronics, digital health, e-skin for biomonitoring and robotics. He has published 3 patents, and over 100 articles as Journals and Conference Article, including top 1% journals such as Advanced Materials, and Nature Communications. He has supervised/supervised over 50 MSc and 4 PhD dissertations. He is director of Soft and Printed Microelectronics Laboratory At the Institute of Systems and Robotics of the University of Coimbra (spm.isr.uc.pt), where he leads an interdisciplinary team composed of electrical, biomedical, physics, and informatics engineers, as well as material scientist and chemists. He has been the PI of several national, European, and CMU-Portugal projects, mostly related on printed stretchable electronics and their applications in health. He has been the recipient of European Research Council (ERC) award of 2.8m€ in 2022. He also received an unconditional research award from Facebook on recyclable electronics (2022), EIT-Health award for innovation on health (2017), and Autodesk award for his developments on 3D printed soft prosthetic hands.
