P Dias (born 1987), chemical engineer, received her PhD degree in chemical and biological engineering from UPORTO-FEUP in May 2016 with the thesis Innovative Photoelectrodes for Solar Water Splitting (FCT grant SFRH/BD/81016/2011), under the supervision of Prof. Mendes. She received the Fundação Eng. António de Almeida 2017 award for the best engineering doctorate dissertation of UPORTO - 2016, due to the originality, scientific merit and socioeconomic interest of her work. She also awarded a FCT post-doctoral scholarship (SRFH/BPD/120970/2016) for the development of highly efficient and stable photoelectrodes for solar fuels production. In 2020, P Dias become a junior researcher, with a FCT Individual contract (CEECIND/02862/2018), aiming at solar energy conversion and storage technologies and now coordinates this topic at LEPABE. Before this, she supervised 1 MSc thesis and took a 5-months maternity leave until September. Currently, P. Dias is responsible for the photoelectrochemical team that counts with 9 scientists, supervises 3 PhD students and guides 4 PhD students/researchers; become invited professor for the Renewable Energies course at the Master in Chemical Engineering, editor-in-chief of Energies-MDPI and work package leader of European Project 112CO2 (952219,~3.6 ME) for the management and quality assurance tasks. Very recently, she turned partner the spin-off Pixel Voltaic, Lda. (www.pixelvoltaic.com). P Dias has been participating actively in the submission of several research projects (4 national and 10 European) targeting energy decarbonization, e.g. using photoelectrochemical cells for solar hydrogen production, solar redox flow cells, CO2 electroreduction. Presently, she is a leading scientist for the tasks of photoelectrodes synthesis on 2 FCT projects (HOPEH2-POCI-01-0145-FEDER-030760 and SunFlow-POCI-01-0145-FEDER-030510) and Baterias2030 (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-046109). She was a researcher and managing assistant on national project SunStorage (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016387,~2ME; finished in December 2010) and performed scientific research for projects Bi-DSC (ERC,~2ME) developing disruptive PEC-PV tandem cells coupling laser-sealed DSCs (a technology patented and recently sold to GreatCell Solar for~5ME), H2Solar (funded by FCT,~175kE), NanoPEC (funded by FP7,~3.9ME) and PECDEMO (funded by FCHJU,~3.2ME). Within her research activities, P. Dias has been collaborating with several national/international institutions (EPFL, Technion, HZB, Aarhus, Coimbra and Lisbon Universities). She was invited researcher at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (SW), under the supervision of Prof. Graetzel, and at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering - Technion (IL). Her landmark results aimed at: 4 high-impact articles reporting world records on hematite (a thin film stable over 1000 h, its upscale production up to 100 and 200 cm2, and using IrO2/RuO2 catalysts demonstrated a photovoltage of 1.20 V); 2 high-impact articles on Cu2O, improving its stability and demonstrating the first photocathode-perovskite tandem device; and the first hematite-DSSC tandem photoelectrode for solar charging redox flow cells. Metrics overview: P Dias counts with 2 patents (PT106558; PPP117008), 1 book chapter, 14 scientific articles (9 top-tier, >5% of total publications), 500 citations, h-index of 9 (Scopus ID:7006086960), and > 30 participations in international conferences with 2 award poster prizes (ORCID:0000-0002-3837-0715); 10 articles are under submission/revision (2 articles as first author and 3 as the corresponding author). She was invited speaker and keynote at Ordem dos Engenheiros, Chemical Engineering Journeys, and several workshops, and was involved in the organization of the Energy Storage Solutions Workshop, SunStorage dissemination video (www.sunstorage.pt), 112CO2 website (www.112co2.eu); she is co-organizing SPTech International conference, being part of the scientific team (www.solar-power-tech.com).
