Nuno Mateus graduated in Biochemistry in 1997 and obtained his PhD in Chemistry in 2002 both at the University of Porto (Portugal). He has been teaching at the University since 2001 where he is currently a Full Professor. He was the Director of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Faculty of Science at the University of Porto between 2019 and 2022. Included in the section of Organic Chemistry of his department, his field of research concerns food chemistry and biochemistry, essentially food polyphenols. He is co-author of 18 book chapters and of over 300 papers in international scientific in the field of Food Science (ca 14000 citations, h index of 66). He is co-author of over 400 works presented in international and national scientific meetings (as keynotes, oral communications or posters).
