Pedro Xavier got a BSc in Forensic and Criminal Sciences in 2019 by Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz and a MSc in chemistry in 2024 from the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa. In 2019-2020 he completed the first year of the MSc in chemistry from FCUL having started to develop a research project that led to a publication in the J. Chem. Phys. (P. Xavier, N. Galamba, J. Chem. Phys. 155, 144501, 2021). He dropped out from the MSc program in 2021, for medical reasons, having returned in 2023 to complete the second year. He completed his MSc in 2024 with a project that combined experimental and in silico approaches titled “Ethaline as a Putative Drug Delivery System”. The project focused on the study of deep eutectic solvents as drug delivery solvents for a low solubility drug for cancer. A paper titled “Exploring Deep Eutectic Solvents as Putative Drug Delivery Solvents for a Cancer Drug” in which he is the first author is currently in preparation. He gave an oral communication of his MSc work at the 16th National Physical Chemistry Metting and 5th Computational Chemistry Symposium, July 17-19, 2024. He also contributed to the organization of the 3rd International Congress of CiiEM (2018) and participated in several scientific events, including two additional CiiEM Congresses, two International Meetings on Forensic Science and Criminal Behaviour, and the CQE Days 2024, where he presented a poster featuring experimental results from his MSc thesis. He has prior teaching experience (tutoring) and completed a research internship on 2017-2018 during the same period (12 months in 2017-2018). Outside of the academia, Pedro Xavier had a presence on social media focused on videogames. Besides multiple partnerships with well established brands, he also helped raise funds for charities that focus on suicide prevention and LGBTQIA2S+ rights.

2018/05/04 - 2018/05/05 The Forensic and Criminal Sciences course at the Egas Moniz University Institute organized its 6th congress, seeking to publicize the contributions and added value of this area in Portugal. Given the relevance and social/psychological impact generated in the community due to the 2017 fires, the theme of Arsonism, from its multidisciplinary perspective and with the presentation of a solid technical-scientific basis, by some of the most important experts in this area in the country, was a prominent subject.
