Inês Oliveira Costa

Inês Costa is a PhD candidate in the Biosciences doctoral program at the University of Coimbra, conducting her research at the Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE) as part of the One Health Research Group (ONE) and the MicroResist Lab. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (2016) and a Master’s degree in Biochemistry (2018), both from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra. Her research focuses on microbiology and biotechnology, with a specific emphasis on the study of extremophile bacteria. Through her doctoral work, she aims to discover novel antimicrobials to tackle priority pathogens, directly contributing to global efforts in addressing the antimicrobial resistance (AMR) crisis.
