Cecilia Mateos is an experienced researcher in the field of heterogeneous catalysis and chemical processes where she has more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 1 international patent. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering (Catalysis) from the University Catholic of Louvain (Belgium) in 2007. She did a post-doc focused on the development of catalysts for industrial application in a project funded by Solvay S.A. (Belgium). Between 2009-2012 she worked as a researcher in the development of hydrogen palladium selective membranes at ICP-CSIC (Spain). In 2012, she moved to Portugal where she worked as a PhD and senior researcher in several international projects in the energy field at FEUP for seven years. From 2020 to 2023, she was a senior researcher and team leader in CoLAB BIOREF, where her main duties were writing of project proposals and service provisions. In her role as a coordinator of the renewable gases area at BIOREF, she was intensively involved with the development of this sector in Portugal collaborating with academia, industry, and public authorities (e.g., Plano Ação para o Biometano). She is currently a senior researcher at the Portalegre Polytechnic University, where she combines her research activities with teaching in the field of renewable gases and bioenergy. She is involved in 4 European projects including IA and RIA (either as an internal coordinator or a researcher), as well as 2 POCTEP projects, 2 RRP projects and a COST Action (CA20127).
