I completed my PhD degree in Biosciences in 2014 by Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra. I had two periods abroad: from 2011-2012 at University of Kansas School of Medicine, United States, as an invited PhD student and from 2015-2016 at VIB, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium, as a visiting researcher. Currently, I am a doctorate researcher at Center for Neuroscience and Cell Biology, University of Coimbra (CNC-UC), working at Dr Cláudia Cavadas lab of Neuroendocrinology and Aging. Here, I am devoted to unravel the role of primary cilia, hair-like organelles that project into the cell surface, on Aging and to find anti-aging strategies through the modulation of primary cilia components (Silva & Cavadas, Trends Mol Med., 2023). Despite a maternity leave (2018) and the period of absence from the lab during the Covid-19 pandemic, I have published, in the last 5 years, 14 articles in peer-reviewed journals of which 4 are first author articles (out of 25 published articles plus and 6 sections of books). I have actively tutor several BSc and master students and co-supervised 1 MSc dissertation. I have participated in 1 academic juri and integrate 1 evaluation committe. From 2015 to 2022, I have taught classes on Oxidative stress and Mitochondria in Aging (Master programs from Faculty of Sciences, University of Coimbra) and pratical lessons to Medical degree students under Investigação Aplicada discipline. Since 2023 I collaborate with the Master Programme in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from the Fcaulty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra. I have received received 3 awards and/or honors. I participate or have participated as researcher in 8 projects.
