A. Catarina C. Passos da Costa has: a) a 5 years graduation in Modern Languages and Literature - French and English, with 2 years specialisation in the Scientific and in the Educational Branches (School of Letters of the University of Porto, 2001); b) a master's degree in Mediation of American Culture (University of East Anglia, 2003). Thesis: "Information Manipulation and Hyperreality - Case Studies of Cultural Wars in the American 1980s". It is a thesis on information management, specifically on the media(tisation) of artistic financing policies in the transition from the 1960s-70s to the 1980s-90s, in the USA; c) completed an internship at the European Commission - DG Development and Cooperation as collaborator in producing, editing and communicating content. She is: d) a PhD researcher in Mediation of European Culture (University of Sussex). Dissertation: "European Union's "glocal" reconstruction through the lenses of Radical Democracy and Third Way politics. A post-structuralist, social semiotic analysis of discourses on European citizenship and identity in the British, French and Portuguese traditional and new media sphere, from 1999 to 2019". It is a dissertation on the (re)construction of citizenship and European identity, based on the analysis of speeches made by opinion leaders involved in mediating the most prominent political-legal, socioeconomic and cultural aspects of the period; e) a collaborating researcher at CITCEM, in the Information, Communication and Digital Culture Group of the School of Arts of the University of Porto.; f) a professor and trainer of Communication, Languages and Cultural Mediation (Fernando Pessoa University; Lusófona University of Porto; Faculties of Engineering, INESC TEC, Faculty of Arts, IPATIMUP and Technological Pole of the University of Porto); g) ) the founding president of the NGO NECI-Portugal/Network for European Citizenship and Identity; h) president of the Oporto Toastmasters Club, an affiliate of the American leadership and communication organisation Toastmasters International, whose motto is "where leaders are made"; i) the founder and executive director of HUG - Human, Uplifting and Glocal Endeavour, an InFormation and Communication agency about global and local issues, focused on people and companies that work or intend to work with entities from different countries and which, for this reason, need informative and training support in order to improve their technical performance and to develop transversal behavioral skills in languages, foreign cultures, and communication (interpersonal and public).
