Timothy Ravasi completed the Doctor in Biology in 1999 from the Università degli Studi di Milano Dipartimento di Bioscienze. He is a Full Tenured Professor in Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, the Pricipal Investigator of the Marine Climate Change Unit and and an Adjunct Professor at the Australian Research Council Center of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at the James Cook University in Australia. Ravasi research interest lies on the current status of coral reef ecosystems. He is particularly interested in looking at ecologically relevant issues in the light of rapid environmental change, such as climate change. Using integrative approaches, he seeks to identify mechanisms responsible for the acclimation and adaptation of coral reef fish to rising ocean temperatures and acidification. During the last 15 years Ravasi has supervised: 25 post-docs (4 ongoing) and 20 PhD students (3 ongoing). Ravasi published more then 180 peer-reviewed articles in journal such as Nature, Cell, Science, Nature Climate Change and Nature Ecology & Evolution, he as an H-index of 57 and a i10-index of 117.
