Catarina Máximo Serpa Carvalho completed the integrated Masters in Biomedical Engineering in 2017. As a part of that degree she worked as a researcher trainee under the scope of the Scientific Research Program in ITQB, won an Erasmus fellowship and completed a semester in Biomedical Engineering Master 2 Program - Biomaterials at Paris Descartes University, and finally finished her Masters (under the scope of a second Erasmus fellowship) in the German Heart Centre in Munich with the Master Thesis “Gene Expression Analysis in Cardiac and Adipose Derived Fibroblasts: potential influence of origin and in vitro culture”. Currently she is working on her Phd of Disease Mechanisms and Regenerative Medicine at CEDOC in NMS, UNL.
