Aldina Correia has a degree in Mathematics and Statistics and a PhD in Mathematical Sciences. She has taught in Polytechnic of Porto since 2004, subjects in several fields including Mathematical Analysis and applications, Statistics and Operational Research. Since 2008 she has taught in the School of Technology and Management (ESTG). She is a full member of CIICESI and Its research areas are direct search optimization, multivariate data analysis and industrial mathematics applications. Her main knowledge contribution, in line with IPP strategy, ESTG Mission and the interdisciplinary nature of CIICESI, is her interest in industrial mathematics which culminated in the master in Management and Industrial Decision Making (MGDI), being its director since its creation in 2015. Her research and student guidance is based on interdisciplinarity and is aligned with CIICESI's strategic assessment, carried out during 2017, namely in the defined research areas, in particular, in Data Analysis and Decision Making. The business and industrial environment has a recognized interest in the field of training/research of Industrial Mathematics, particularly in industrial processes where large data generation occurs as a consequence of technological advances and digitalization. The ability to create knowledge from these data, combined with knowledge in Management, are often referred to as very important tools that many students do not seem to master, and for this reason the industry has become a key partner in our research, whether by providing data, or by presenting real-life challenges. Additionally, the industry 4.0 paradigm is based on a strong relationship between the industry and the data obtained from the market and, in this sense, her contribution to the training and career development is fully aligned with the needs of industry and the local business industry. Her contribution to society is reflected in several areas, in addition to establishing a bridge between the mathematical language of academia and companies, she is a nonprofit organizations founder, member of the ESTG Eco-School Council, Member of the Internal Evaluation team of a secondary school representing ESTG, volunteer professor at one senior university, among others. A solid demonstration of the relevance of her contribution for Science is her ability to apply quantitative methods in resolution of real problemas, and the interaction with the business environment, demonstrated by MGDI's industrial partnerships and her participation, almost every year, and organization of several ESGI (European Study groups with industry). In the scientific field, she published about a hundred papers in Mathematics, Management and/or Technology indexed journals, several sections of books and indexed proceedings. Supervised more than twenty MSc industrial and interdisciplinar dissertations. Has received 8 awards or honors. Participated in Research projects, was Chair or co-chair of scientific events, member of several scientific and organizational committees, participant in many national and international congresses with many scientific communications. Revised several papers for respected journals and was editor and responsable by special issues and conference sessions.
