Miguel Silva holds a MSc. in Informatics Engineering by the University of Coimbra, concluded in 2013, and a Bachelor degree in Informatics Engineering by the Coimbra Institute of Engineering, concluded in 2011. Since 2014 Miguel Silva has been a research fellow at LIBPhys (Laboratory for Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, and Radiation Physics Coimbra). For the past 9 years, Miguel Silva has been a research fellow in the international XENON collaboration that aims to build the most sensitive dark matter detector (in an underground laboratory in Italy - LNGS). This collaboration integrates more than 190 researchers from 27 internationally renowned universities and institutes. Within this collaboration, Miguel Silva has participated in several tasks, namely the development of the control system (slow control) and instrumentation. Besides, he is responsible for the operational management of the control infrastructure and for developing several control modules. He has a vast knowledge in the fields of electrotechnical engineering, electronic engineering, and informatics, with a particular emphasis on automation and control systems. Furthermore, he is deeply interested in data acquisition and processing, and the development of innovative instrumentation. He has 47 articles published in peer-reviewed journals. He was an Invited Professor at the Coimbra Institute of Engineering, where he lectures Analog Electronics, and Computer Technologies and Architecture, in addition to his research efforts. In 2019, Miguel Silva received the 1st-place award at the EDP Hack the Electron Project Call where he presented an intelligent solution for energy production management with access to a power meter. He has also participated as a Research Fellow in 2 projects: XENON1T e XENONnT experiments (SAICT 28557) and Direct dark matter search with the XENON1T and XENONnT experiments (PTDC/FIS-NUC/0145/2014)
