Helena Henriques Antunes experience and expertise encompasses Advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs), also referred to as cell and gene therapies (CGTs). The scientific and technical development of somatic cell therapy medicinal products (sCTMPs) and tissue engineering products (TEP) is also included. Aseptic manufacturing techniques and processes validation in GMP environment, development and validation of the facilities for ATMP manufacturing, ATMPs quality assurance and regulatory affairs, and authorisation by the regulatory authorities regarding GMP manufacturing, Investigational medicinal products and clinical studies (one clinical trial and one hospital exemption) are also encompassed. Currently assumes the role of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs (QA&RA) Officer and Project Manager at GeneT | The Gene Therapy CoE at the Center of Portugal. In the seven-year period previously mentioned, the following functions were exerted: The position of Principal Research Scientist at CoLAB4Ageing was held for a period of approximately six months. This position was preceded by two roles: firstly, Head of ATMPs Production, for a period of over five years; and secondly, Head of Validation and New Processes, for a period of one year, at the Cell Therapy Laboratory of Stemlab Advanced | Crioestaminal - Stemlab, SA. Helena holds a PhD in Health Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (awarded on 13 July 2022), a Master of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of the University of Coimbra's Life Sciences Department (awarded on 24 September 2010), and a degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences and Technologies of the University of Coimbra's Biochemistry Department (awarded on 26 November 1999). Following the completion of her doctoral studies, she has published six articles in high-impact journals that have undergone the peer-review process, and she has also registered one patent.
