Laurent Drouet is a Scientist at the RFF-CMCC European Institute in Economics and the Environment and at the Centro Euro-Mediterraneo sui Cambiamenti Climatici CMCC in Milan, Italy since 2012. He is a leading researcher in integrated assessment modeling of climate change for more than 15 years. He holds a pHD in Social and Economics Science from the University of Geneva (2006). He published 43 papers, including more than 25 scientific papers in Q1 international peer-reviewed journal in the fields of environmental science (h-index 15). His research contributed greatly to inform decision makers about the issue of climate change and especially about the required level of actions required to tackled this issue. He looked at many aspects of climate mitigation actions but also the economic impacts of climate change. This way, his research contributed to the international discussions at the UNFCCC COPs and, in his future research, he would like to extend his research impact by contributing to the UN agenda 2030. His research consists of multidisciplinary studies involving climate, environmental science, energy system and environmental economics using state-of-the-art modeling techniques. In the past, he developed numerical methods to couple models of different kind in an optimization framework, such as the coupling of the economy and the climate, the energy system and air pollution. He also developed an open-source energy system model ETEM. He currently co-leads the development of the WITCH integrated assessment model, a world leading model reviewed in the last IPCC reports and with publication in high impact journals (Nature, Nature Climate Change, Nature Energy, Nature Communications). He wrote a large part of the code and was involved in the implementation of many components: energy system, economy, land-use, climate, air pollution, mitigation options and climate change impacts. He developed open source scientific tools to conduct research in integrated assessment. He also created data-visualization tools to communicate his research outputs. He would like to join the CENSE research center at Lisbon, being in contact with with this group for many years and that our research objectives and tools are fully aligned.
