I am Adriana Oliveira Catarino Leandro, I completed a bachelor's degree in biology in 2015 and then I obtained a master's degree in biochemistry in 2017, both from the University of Coimbra, at the Faculty of Science and Technology. After that, I continued as a research fellow, in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, at the Institute of Physiology, IBILI - Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Life Sciences (now named Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research, iCBR). During the research fellowsip I worked on the project "Crosstalk between perivascular adipose tissue and blood vessels in obesity and type 2 diabetes", and I developed skills in various techniques (ELISA, western blot, immunohistochemistry, isometric tension tests in organ bath / myographic system, sample preparation for HPLC and Mass Spectrometry analyzes) and in animal experimentation in rats (I have an authorization for execution experimental procedures in animals, with FELASA B certificate by SPCAL and DGAV, since 2017). I learned and performed fluorescence microscopy (widefield) aquisition and image analysis (software to analyze experimental data: ZenZeiss, ImageJ and GraphPad Prism). I have participated in some scientific events (attended seminars and workshops). I presented a poster about my master / research work in a national congress. I am co-author of a review published in a peer-review journal. In the lasts months I gained new knowledge about phycology (ecology, biodiversity, taxonomy and its applications) and I also have learned and performed experimental techniques using macroalgae (from its harvest, cleaness and biomass preservation as well as biochemical analyses and algae-derived products extractions) at the marine algae group at MARE -UC (University of Coimbra), under the orientation of professor Dr Leonel Pereira and Drª Ana Marta Gonçalves.
