Patricia Sánchez-Holgado holds a European PhD in Communication from the University of Salamanca (2021). Her doctoral thesis focused on data science communication in Spain and was awarded a Cum Laude. She holds a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the Complutense University of Madrid (2000), a Master's Degree in Teacher Training for Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Teaching (2020) from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, a Master's Degree in Business Studies. Science, Technology and Innovation, specializing in Scientific Culture, from the University of Oviedo (2019), a Master's Degree in Big Data and analytics from the Pontifical University of Salamanca (2017) and a Master's Degree in Business Administration and Management from the Polytechnic University of Barcelona (2005). She is an assistant professor at the University of Salamanca and a researcher at the Audiovisual Content Observatory (OCA), a Research Group of Excellence and Consolidated Research Unit of the Junta de Castilla y León (Spain) (http://www.ocausal.es/). She has extensive professional experience outside the academic field, as Account and Managing Director working in companies in the communication and advertising sector, among others. In the area of research, she has participated in 19 national and international research projects, which focus on three main lines: hate speech on the Internet, the social perception of science and the threats and risks of technology for young people. Also relevant are projects focused on young people and adolescents, such as the Audiovisual Barometer of Childhood and the Media and “Kids Media Spain”, which belongs to the CRTVE-USAL Chair and which also studies the use and consumption of media in young people, the threats and risks that arise, which are directly related to harmful content. As for academic publications of interest, Patricia Sánchez-Holgado is the author of 38 articles, 14 book chapters and 11 technical transfer reports, among others. She has also participated to date with 45 communications as first author or co-author in national and international research conferences or academic activities, and in 6 of them as a guest speaker. Some publications linked to the aforementioned projects stand out, which have obtained presence in the JCR Q1 or Q2 journals and Scopus, in addition to making an additional effort to transfer results to society and disseminate this type of knowledge in traditional media so that the general public has access. She is part of the editorial board of the Frontiers in Communication journal in the Media Governance and Public Sphere division. Accredited as a Contracted Professor with a PhD, enabled to participate in the access competitions referred to in art. 63 of Organic Law 6/2001, of December 21, on Spanish Universities. She has extensive professional experience of 18 years outside the academic field, working in companies in the communication and advertising sector, among others, being an account director in advertising agencies such as Ogilvy in Barcelona and responsible for communication in entities such as banks. Her lines of research focus on: Social perception of Artificial Intelligence and data science; Communication, dissemination and scientific culture; Online hate speech against different audiences; Adoption and Use of Communication Technologies; gender and equality studies; Computational methods applied to communication; Political Communication.
