Filipe Campelo got a PhD in Ecology (2008) in the University of Coimbra (UC). After completing his Ph.D. he worked for 10 months (2008–2009) as a Postdoctoral Researcher with Prof Emilia Gutiérrez at University of Barcelona, Spain. Then he returned to the UC for an FCT Postdoctoral Fellowship from 2009–2015. He has attracted competitive funding from the FCT as Principal Investigator in two projects (STEM [EXPL/AAG-GLO/1885/2013, 44k €] and STEM2 [PTDC/AAG-GLO/4784/2014, 191k €]) and as Co-Principal Investigator (RESINPRO PTDC/ASP-SIL/31231/2017, 250k €). He has published > 40 articles in international SCI-indexed journals, over 80% of them in journals within the Q1 of his research area. Considering Scopus metrics, his publications have over 1.5k citations with an h-index of 24 (i-10 of 29). In 30 papers, he was first (10), second (13), or senior author (7), with a relevant role in the design, data analysis, and writing. His publications have attracted >1.5k citations, accounting for an h-index 24. He is interested in Mediterranean Dendrochronology and wood formation processes. His main focus is on special anatomical features within tree rings and on how these structures can be used to refine the climatic signal of tree rings. Investigating how climate regulates the cambial activity and how wood records environmental variations has been his priority since 2007.
