Rita Leal obtained her degree in Food Engineering in 2012 at the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo. From 2012 to 2016 worked as a production and quality manager in a frozen products company, implementing the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) in order to comply with all hygiene and food safety requirements. Between October 2016 and March 2017, she provided food consultancy services in commercial establishments such as restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores, butchers, and food distribution warehouses. From May 2017 to April 2021, she worked as production manager in a fish canning industry, with a number of more than 400 employees, attending the requirements of the BRC and IFS standards. The main functions were to prepare plans and maps of production, update and follow the HACCP plan in order to control critical points. Control of the reception of raw materials from production material, packaging, and final product. Rita leal obtained her MSc in Integrated Management Systems - Quality, Environment and Safety in 2021, by concluding her dissertation in Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave. Attends the PhD program in Chemical and Biological Engineering by University of Minho since 01/10/2021. Throughout her professional and academic career, several formations stand out. In 2012, she obtained the Certificate of Pedagogical Competences to be able to exercise her professional activity as a trainer. As part of the master's degree, she obtained the certificates of Internal Auditor for Quality, Environment, Safety, and Integrated Management Systems issued by SGS and the professional title of Higher Occupational Safety Technician. As part of her professional activity, she carried out the following formations courses: Basic Life Support and First Aid Course; buildings evacuation formation; and Fire Fighting formation.
