Carlos Manuel Domingues dos Reis

Carlos Manuel Domingues dos Reis has been an adjunct professor at the School of Applied Arts (ESART-IPCB), Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco, since 1995, teaching audiovisual and media production. He has extensive experience in pedagogical management in the audiovisual field and has coordinated study cycles across three levels of higher education. He was the Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Audiovisual Design (2014–2022), the Coordinator of the Technological Specialisation Course (CET) in Image Reporting, and the Coordinator of Higher Professional Technical Courses (CTeSP). He currently heads the Technological Resources Centre (CRAT). Having initially studied Visual and Technological Education, he went on to complete a postgraduate degree in Educational Multimedia Communication and obtained a specialist title in animation from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). As a collaborating researcher at TECHN&ART, he focuses his research on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage and collective memory. He is actively involved in competitive R&D projects that bridge landscape and visual media, including 'Landscape Together' (Creative Europe, 2023–2026), 'IDeAL' (2024–2025) and the 'Landscape Museum' research line. Alongside his academic work, he uses documentary filmmaking as an ethnographic research tool. His film It's Our Tradition! received a Special Jury Mention at the 17th International Festival of Ethnological Film in Serbia. His recent works include Amato Lusitano: Ciência e Humanismo (2025) and Ser Cigano (2023), which focus on local history and social inclusion.
