Diana Sousa is a first year PhD student in the PhD Programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB) at the University of Coimbra. She got her BSc degree in Biochemistry in 2020 at the University of Coimbra. Diana concluded her master in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Coimbra in 2022. In 2023, she was a research fellow at the NeuroEndocrinology of Obesity Laboratory at Coimbra Institute for Clinical and Biomedical Research (iCBR - CIBB) at the University of Coimbra, where she work with adipose tissue dopaminergic signalling in the context of obesity. Her master's dissertation focused on the impact of obesogenic environments on offspring energy balance mechanisms. In this context, she has published an original article in Nutrients (10.3390/nu15051281), and a review paper in elucidating the relationship between neuropeptide Y and mitochondria in Biomedicine (10.3390/biomedicines11020446). Diana is also a coauthor of two original articles revealing the neurometabolic alterations in metabolic programming context (10.1016/j.lfs.2023.121597 and 10.3390/nu15163581). She as participated in international meetings, namely the European Congress of Clinical Investigation (ESCI) in 2022 and 2023 as an author and co-author of oral communications and posters, and in the European Association for the Study of Diabetes meeting in 2022 and 2023 (short oral communication). Regarding national congresses, Diana also presented oral communications at the Portuguese Congress of Diabetes in 2022 and 2023 and at the Portuguese Congress of Pharmacology in 2023.
