I hold a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL), which I earned in 2015 with a final grade of 15. In 2018, I completed a Master's degree in Conservation Biology from the same institution, achieving a final grade of 18. I have now started taking a PhD in Biology also at FCUL, with the proposed title "How to end control and eradication programs of invasive species on dendritic stream networks". My Master's thesis focused on studying the nesting population of green turtles (Chelonia mydas) on the island of Cavalos in Guinea-Bissau. This research led to a co-authored book chapter on the sea turtles of Guinea-Bissau in 2018, as well as a peer-reviewed scientific article published in 2022, titled "Reducing the Risk of Predation on Green Turtle Nests by Nile Monitors".While working on my Master's thesis, I also served as a lab and field assistant to Professor Francisco Petrucci-Fonseca for his course on Conservation Biology of Vertebrates, which was part of the third year of the Bachelor of Biology program at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa.Following the completion of my Master's degree, I participated in an Erasmus+ internship with the "Large Carnivores Research Group" at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Zagreb, where I worked on the Life Lynx project and studied the wild populations of bears, lynx, and wolves in Croatia. This experience allowed me to gain proficiency in working with SQL databases and handling large datasets.For two years after my internship, I worked with Grupo Lobo, where I studied the wild population of wolves in Portugal and collected data for the National Iberian Wolf Census. During this time, I deepened my knowledge of ecology and conservation, and became highly proficient with GIS software like Quantum GIS.Since 2019, I have been working on the Xenopus laevis eradication program in Portugal in partnership with Oeiras municipality, Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência, Ce3C, and Sintra municipality. Through this work, I gained expertise in sampling freshwater ecosystems and developed a passion for studying invasive species in these habitats. Additionally, I co-authored three annual reports for the Instituto da Conservação da Natureza e Florestas (ICNF).In 2021 and 2022, I worked as a field biologist for Oeiras municipality, where I gained insight into the implementation of conservation efforts at the local level and navigated through municipality proceedings. I also co-authored a guidebook on nature preservation within the municipality.Since 2021 and until the present day, I have also worked as a tour guide at Centro de Recuperação do Lobo Ibérico in Grupo Lobo. I have worked for a brief period in 2022 in the project “Waders of the Bijagós” with CESAM research group, having studied the feeding behaviour of wader birds from Portugal and Guiné-Bissau.Currently, I have worked with the project "Plano de ação e projeto de controlo de Xenopus laevis" with Ce3C and ICNF, where we worked towards the control and eradication of Xenopus laevis in Portugal.Throughout my academic and professional career, I have developed a deep understanding of ecological processes across different taxa, including marine reptiles, large carnivores, and invasive species in freshwater ecosystems. Additionally, I have gained proficiency in handling large amounts of data and have gained basic knowledge using statistical analysis software such as R Statistics
