As a motivated and passionate researcher, I have dedicated myself to building a strong background in studying and preserving cultural heritage, with a particular emphasis on textiles and natural colors. I obtained a carpet expert degree from Tabriz Islamic Art University and a Master's degree with a specialization in raw materials and dyeing, which equipped me to undertake complex and interdisciplinary projects, especially in the field of conservation. My Master's thesis, entitled "Investigation on the Dyeing of Wool of Handwoven Carpet Using Luminescent Colourants," allowed me to dive into the fascinating world of natural dyes and their application in textiles. This research has not only honed my analytical and problem-solving skills, but it has also given me a solid foundation for understanding the chemical and physical properties of various dye sources. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have consistently pursued the advancement of my knowledge and skills. My collaborations with esteemed professionals and institutions, such as "The Institute for Colour Science and Technology" in Iran, a leading faculty in surface coatings, new technologies, organic dyes synthesis, and colour physics, have broadened my perspective on the field of related studies.I have had the privilege of working alongside one of the most renowned experts in this field in Iran, Professor Kamaladin Gharanjig. Under his guidance and by undertaking various projects in this area, I have gained valuable insights and hands-on experience in the study of Persian carpets, dyeing techniques, and fibre colouring. This dedication has led to several notable achievements, including the publication of an article in the prestigious journal Fibers and Polymers (Institute of Scientific Information) and two additional scientific research articles. Furthermore, I have acquired two innovation certificates for my patented work in textiles, with registration numbers 89603 and 89481. Now, as I embark on my Ph.D. journey at the Programa de Doutoramento em Conservação e Restauro do Património (CORES), I am eager to deepen my understanding of the intricate world of Persian carpets and the role saffron yellows play in their production. My proposed research, titled "The Persian Carpets of the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum: a multianalytical approach for the in-depth characterization of saffron yellows," seeks to fill gaps in our knowledge about these remarkable textiles, while promoting informed conservation strategies. With a focus on interdisciplinary research, my project aims to investigate the historical and contemporary use of saffron dyes, as well as the manufacturing techniques used in Persian carpets. By employing cutting-edge analytical techniques such as molecular fluorescence, I hope to contribute to the establishment of a made-to-measure reference database for future in-depth analyses. My ultimate goal is to ensure the sustainable preservation of this invaluable cultural heritage by fostering a sense of community ownership and appreciation for these stunning artworks. With a solid foundation in the study of natural dyes, textiles, and cultural heritage conservation, I am confident in my ability to make significant contributions to the field as I pursue my Ph.D. and beyond. In summary, my educational background, past achievements, and passion for cultural heritage conservation have prepared me well for my Ph.D. journey. As I embark on this exciting new chapter, I look forward to deepening my knowledge, expanding my collaborations, and making lasting contributions to the understanding and preservation of Persian carpets and their unique saffron yellows.
