Mario Ginja, completed the title of Aggregate in 2012 (Theme: Hip Dysplasia in dogs: Diagnosis and Control), by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), PhD in Veterinary Science in 2006 (Theme: Imaging diagnosis of Canine Hip Dysplasia) by UTAD, Degree in Pedagogical Aptitude and Scientific Ability in 2000 (Theme: Orthopaedic diseases in young dogs) by UTAD, Degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1996 by UTAD, Bachelor in Primary Education in 1986 by Bragança Education School. He is Assistant Professor at UTAD in the Department of Veterinary Sciences responsible of Curricular Unity of Imaging Diagnosis of Integrated Master of Veterinary Medicine at UTAD; Responsible for the Radiographic and Computed Tomography Services at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of UTAD; Integrated member in the Animal and Veterinary Research Centre (CECAV) of UTAD, with the FCT classification of Very Good. Account about ninety articles published in specialized veterinary journals, of which more than 75 are in the Scopus database, 4 didactic books, more than 1000 citations, H-index 18. He has 3 Portuguese patents registered by the Nacional Institute of Industrial Property and more 2 patents applications for final stage evaluation, all of them related with the radiographic diagnosis of small animals. He attended about 40 lectures as a guest speaker at national and international conferences in the area of Veterinary Medicine and more than 200 free communications. He is Associate Editor of 2 Scopus Journals Frontiers in Veterinary Science Diagnostic Imaging and Veterinary Record Case Reports, with the edition of about 50 manuscripts and responsible for editing the Research Topic: Canine Hip and Elbow Dysplasia Improvement Programs Around the World: Success or Failure? . He has more than 200 reviews of papers of scientific journals confirmed in the Publons database. He supervised 5 doctoral PhD thesis completed, and 4 are ongoing and supervised about 30 master Thesis. Received 10 research prizes and honours. Participated as Investigator in 8 projects (in 4 as PI), 3 of them supported by FCT funds. Official examiner of Canine Hip Dysplasia (CHD) in Portugal for APMVEAC/CPC (Associação Portuguesa de Médicos Veterinários Especialistas em Animais de Companhia/Portuguese Kennel Club) certification. PennHIP Full member Certificartion (Early Canine Hip Dysplasia Diagnosis). GRSK (Society for X-ray Diagnostics of Genetically Influenced Skeletal Diseases in Small Animals) - Full member Certification for Hip and Elbow dog dysplasia scoring. Responsible for the radiographic CHD screening in Portuguese autochthonous canine breeds (Estrela Mountain dog, Portuguese Pointer dog and Cão de Gado Transmontano). Operates in the area Veterinary Sciences -General imaging diagnosis techniques in Veterinary Medicine: radiography, ultrasonography, tomography and magnetic resonance imaging; With special interest in the area of non traumatic orthopaedic diseases that affect the veterinary species. Most of the published works have resulted from clinical research carried out in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of UTAD in the area of radiodiagnosis of small animals.
