Patrício Costa holds a graduate and post-graduate degree in Statistics and Information Management, complemented by an MSc in Modeling, Data Analysis, and Decision Support Systems. Furthermore, he has attained a PhD in Contemporary Political Processes, alongside a Habilitation in Health Sciences. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Minho's School of Medicine and the University of Porto's Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences, Patrício imparts his expertise in Research Methodologies, Data Analysis, and Statistics as they apply to both Health Sciences and Psychology, respectively. Beyond academia, he plays a pivotal role in the corporate sphere, spearheading the implementation of survey methods and polls for an opinion and market research firm. Patrício's academic contributions extend to the coordination of three funded projects focusing on youth political participation (sponsored by Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian; FCG) and the influence of leader traits and campaign tone on voting behavior (supported by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, FCT; 2CA). Moreover, he has lent his expertise as a consultant to projects funded by Fundação Francisco Manuel dos Santos (FFMS) and FCT while actively participating as a team member in four FCT-funded projects. With a wealth of experience in data analysis across natural and social sciences, Patrício is proficient in various statistical packages. He has over a hundred scientific articles appearing in reputable international journals (H-Index = 30, Citations = 2,785). Additionally, he has contributed as a reviewer for esteemed publications such as: Journal of General Internal Medicine; BMC Medical Education; Educational Research and Reviews; PLOS ONE; Journal of Social and Personal Relationships; South European Society and Politics; Journal of Product & Brand Management; Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine; International Journal of Psychology and Counseling; Medical Teacher; The New England Journal of Medicine; JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association; International Journal of Eating Disorders; Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience; Frontiers in Psychology, among others. Patrício has mentored numerous students, supervising six PhD and 14 MSc candidates to completion and guiding 14 PhD and two MSc students. His research interests span diverse domains, including education, marketing, political participation, voting behaviour, cognition, and empathy, where he applies data analysis techniques, research methodologies, and machine learning to advance understanding and insights.
