+Frederico C. Ferreira completed his Ph.D. in 2004 from Imperial College London (IC), followed by an industrial post-doc with IC and GlaxoSmithKline (2004-2006). He also holds a Master in Business and Administration (MBA) from New University of Lisbon (2006-2008) and was visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Set-Dec 2009, the L'Institut Européen des Membranes, Montpellier in the summer 2007 and at Politecnico di Milano during his Sabbatical (Feb to Ago 2017). +Frederico C. Ferreira is an Assistant Professor at Department of Bioengineering of Instituto Superior Técnico, member of the Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience and Associate Laboratory, Institute for Health and Bioeconomy. He has published c.a. 150 SCI papers, c.a 3000 citations, h-index of 30 and co-authored 7 patents applications and 7 book chapters. He has received 5 awards and/or honors. In their professional activities interacted with 200 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers. F.Ferreira is co-author of more than 200 (114 oral and 86 poster) presentations. F.Ferreira participate on 25 R&D projects. +Frederico Ferreira current research interests are focused on: 1. Tissue engineering, developing electrical and magnetic stimuli responsive nanotechnologies, scaffolds and bio-inks for developing tissue constructs from stem cells and target cancer therapies; 2. Sustainable separations and biorefineries exploring unconventional yeasts for production of fuels, biosurfactants and enzymes from residues and wastes and using membrane technology and molecular imprinted polymers for difficult separations; and 3. Cellular Agriculture, with focus in production of seafood with low ecological impact, development novel edible bio-inks and scaffolds made from algae and vegan materials and fostering tissue growth, maturation and organization. +Awarded thesis supervised by F.Ferreira include 10 PhD supervisions, 8 PhD co-supervisions and 59 MSCi supervisions. Currently, F.Ferreira leads a research group of 4 PhD holder, 10 PhD students and 7 MSci students.. +F.Ferreira has act as external PhD examiner of several national and international universities and external reviewer for the Bezos Earth Fund, ERC Grants, Research Council K.U.Leuven, Pfizer Prize, FCT and of scientific research papers for more than 40 different journals. +F.Ferreira is member of the scientific organizations American chemical society (ACS), Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), ESAB: European Society of Applied Biocatalysis (PT representative), Sociedade Portuguesa de Células Estaminais e Terapia Celular, Sociedade Portuguesa de Química and Alumini of AMBA, AAA-FCT-UNL, Imperial College London Alumini. +F.Ferreira teaches i) in MSCi courses on Entrepreneurship in bioengineering, Green Technologies and Strategic Management, Design Project in Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials Technology, Biological Engineering Laboratory II, Biomaterials Technologies and ii) in PhD courses on Innovation in bioengineering (MIT Portugal), iTeams- Teams for Innovation (MIT Portugal), IEWeek -Innovation and entrepreneurship (MIT Portugal), goMEd-New ventures in Regenerative Medicine (PhDRegMed), Bioentrepreneurship (BioTecnico), Materials for RegeMedicine (PhDRRegMed). +F.Ferreira Industrial partners include(d) GlaxoSmithkline, Hovione FarmaCiencia SA, MET-Evonik, BASF, Clariant, Maçarico SA, A Tremoceira Lda, Bioceramed, SmartFreez, Bac3Gel and he is partner of Cell4Food and SurfACTinov.
