Agroecologist | Participatory Researcher | Food Systems & Territorial Governance Specialist I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Earth, Energy & Sustainability from Leiden University College The Hague and a Master’s degree in Organic Agriculture with a specialization in Agroecology from Wageningen University & Research. My academic path has equipped me with strong interdisciplinary skills at the intersection of environmental science, soil science, GIS, and socio-ecological systems thinking. During my undergraduate studies, I developed technical and analytical competencies in R, ArcGIS, and field-based sustainability research, combining ecological understanding with insights from anthropology and development studies. My MSc studies allowed me to specialize in the design and analysis of agroecosystems and sustainable food systems. I explored how natural and social sciences converge to shape agroecological transitions and holistic land management strategies. In my graduate research internship with the Habiba Community (Egypt), I collaborated with Bedouin farmers to co-create regenerative agricultural models rooted in permaculture and traditional ecological knowledge. This experience deepened my intercultural communication skills and strengthened my capacity to implement participatory methods in community-led contexts. Currently, I serve as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Functional Ecology (University of Coimbra) under the Horizon Europe project GOOD – Agroecology for Weeds, where I contribute to agroecological fieldwork, stakeholder engagement, and participatory action research in Portugal. My role involves facilitating connections between scientific knowledge and practical implementation in Mediterranean agroecosystems. Previously, I worked as a Research Assistant at Monte Silveira Bio, a regenerative farm managing over 700 hectares in Beira Baixa. There, I supported sustainable transitions by applying agroecological practices, restoring soil health and biodiversity, and coordinating farmer engagement initiatives. I also collaborated on agroforestry and territorial governance actions within the broader landscape. As Coordinator at Stichting Boerengroep (NL), I organized interdisciplinary programming bridging students, farmers, and researchers. I led educational events, storytelling workshops, and farm excursions promoting food sovereignty, agroecological transitions, and inclusive governance. Since 2021, I have been an active contributor to the Agroecology Europe Youth Network (AEEUYN), co-authoring the Youth Manifesto and facilitating international workshops on agroecological markets and participatory governance. I represented youth voices at Terra Madre and continue to engage in policy dialogue and grassroots coordination with a strong intersectional and feminist perspective. Throughout my journey, I have acquired a robust set of methodological skills, including Participatory Action Research (PAR), stakeholder mapping, social network analysis, GIS-based mapping (PPGIS), cultural ecosystem services (CES) assessments, MaxEnt modeling, and agroecological performance evaluations (e.g., FAO TAPE). I am also trained in science communication, facilitation, and interdisciplinary project design. I have co-authored technical reports, contributed to EU publications (e.g., Mapping Agroecology in Europe), and led community-based research that links local knowledge with policy impact. My focus is on how cultural landscapes, community practices, and governance models can be transformed through agroecology to support ecological integrity, social equity, and food system resilience. I speak Italian (native), English (advanced), French (intermediate), Portuguese (basic-A2), and have working knowledge of Greek. I am motivated by a deep commitment to participatory and transdisciplinary approaches that place people, culture, and nature at the center of sustainable transitions.
