I am an experienced ecologist, modeller, and data analyst with a PhD in Biology. I developed six innovative methodologies to better understand and predict environmental change impacts on biodiversity and human health and facilitate decision-making, including an open source, user-friendly tool for standardized quantitative impact assessments. I focus on climate and land-use change impacts, on ecological networks, invasive species and disease vectors, and on early warning and supporting the bioeconomy. I integrate citizen science data into predictive modelling and use varied modelling approaches, from statistical and mechanistic models to machine and deep learning. I have strong analytical skills and experience with spatial modelling and geographic information systems, using several software and programming tools. I am an effective team player and networker. I am curious, flexible, proactive and a problem solver. I have interdisciplinary, intercultural, and international work experience and maintain collaborations with more than ten teams from countries and institutions worldwide, from Europe, Africa, and North and South America. I am a skilled writer and publish in high-impact, international peer-reviewed journals, with more than ten articles published and all involving international collaborations. I am an effective communicator and can disseminate complex scientific information to multidisciplinary audiences: I participate regularly in scientific meetings worldwide, with more than twenty oral presentations delivered. I am an effective project manager and have experience organizing science dissemination and outreach events. My work has received international media attention. My contribution for the research community extends beyond my research, being a reviewer and editor for several journals and a jury in academic events. I am an innovative thinker and recently co-created a short documentary on the role of women in academia. I am an attentive teacher and tutor and mentored more than ten students, which resulted in PhD and MSc thesis completed and in collaborative publications. I continuously complement my training to deepen and broaden my expertise (e.g., on science communication and entrepreneurship, on design thinking and collaborative learning). I worked as an Auxiliary Researcher at the Centre for Geographical Studies, University of Lisbon, where in H2020 project EuropaBON we co-designed the future European biodiversity monitoring network and showcased how biodiversity data can be useful - and used - for early warning, for the bioeconomy, and for EU citizens in general. Currently I am working in CIBIO-InBIO in H2020 project NaturaConnect, where we are building a resilient ecological network of conserved areas across Europe for nature and people.
