I completed my PhD in Biorefining at the University of Coimbra in March 2023 and am currently working as a Junior Researcher at the University of Coimbra. I earned an M.Tech in Pulp and Paper Engineering from IIT Roorkee in 2014. Following my master’s degree, I worked as a process engineer for four years in the paper industry in India. I received my Bachelor of Technology in 2012 from VIT University, India. Since 2019, I have been involved in the project Inpactus – Innovative Products and Technologies Based on Eucalyptus, funded by Portugal 2020 through the European Regional Development Fund under COMPETE 2020. I have published seven research articles in peer-reviewed journals, obtained two patents, participated in 11 international conferences, and provided mentorship and co-supervision for the development of one MSc thesis. Currently, I am contributing to the project From Forest to Fossil, funded by the PRR Recovery and Resilience Plan and Next Generation EU funds. My work focuses on strengthening packaging-grade paper using bio-based materials. My expertise lies in improving the strength and barrier properties of packaging-grade paper. I have extensive experience in modifying starch and cellulose-based materials, as well as utilizing bio-based materials to enhance the barrier and printing properties of paper products. I am passionate about exploring innovative ways to improve sustainable food packaging and am committed to staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in my field.
