Maria do Rosário Fernandes has a PhD in Forestry and Natural Resources Engineering from the School of Agriculture, University of Lisbon (2013). She has a pre-Bologna degree in Forestry Engineering (1999), and a Master's degree carried out in collaboration with the Master's in Geographic Engineering from the Faculty of Sciences (2009). She is a researcher at the Forest Research Centre specialized in Riparian Ecology. She has 23 articles in ISI journals, (h-index = 13), 44 oral or poster communications, 9 of which by invitation. Publications indexed in Scopus have an average of 28.6 citations per publication, with a Field Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) of 1.93 and an international collaboration of 50.5% (Source: Scopus-Scival, July 2023). She was a research member in several national and international competitive scientific projects. She was a supervisor for master's and doctoral thesis and an active reviewer in several international journals. In 2021 she joined the Quality Planning and Communication Office at the School of Agriculture. She was responsible for the evaluation of the scientific performance of the institution, and the respective Research Units, through bibliometric analysis. In January 2023 she was pointed has the Head of the Library, Documentation and Publications Division (BISA) of the School of Agriculture.
