Luís Correia, born in the Madeira island in 1989, has developed is reserch mainly on the durability and long-term behaviour of composite strucutres. The amount and the quality of the research carried out by the applicant lead to a total of 17 Journal article; more than 20 papers in International and national conferences; 3 books (as editor) and 4 book chapters; and more than 21 Scientific Reports. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In September of 2013, Luís Correia began his research career on the abovementioned topic, working on the FCT funded project FRPreDur (FCT PTDC/ECM-EST/2424/2012). The project involved an experimental program using full-scale slabs and material specimens for their characterization, numerical simulations, and design recommendations. In May of 2014, Luís Correia received his individual PhD scholarship from FCT (SFRH/BD/98309/2013) and started the development of his doctoral program while also dedicating his time to the FRPreDur project. Over the next four years, he successfully completed all the required curricular courses (with an average of 17/20), performed various research tasks, and produced a significant number of scientific outcomes. During this time, he also carried out an experimental program to study the effect of elevated temperatures on the bond behavior of externally-bonded FRP laminates with mechanical end anchorages as part of another research project, FRPLongDur (POCI-01-0145-FEDER-016900). In May of 2018, Luís Correia began working on the EASYFLOOR project (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-003480), where he had the opportunity to expand his knowledge on pultruded sandwich panels for rehabilitating degraded wooden floors in old buildings. More recently, Luís Correia has been serving as the deputy coordinator for the FRP++ master program, beginning in April of 2023. As part of this role, he teaches and organizes events such as the integration week and the FRP++ workshop (held yearly). He currently supervises four PhD students and three MSc students. Luís Correia is also an active member of the ISISE Institute, conducting research under the Stiker project (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-039755) and making continuous contributions to event organizations and thesis supervision. He is involved in developing background reports for the prEN19101: Design of fiber-polymer composite structures (new Eurocode) as part of the WG4 project team of the CEN/TC 250 committee. Throughout his academic and research career, Luís Correia has collaborated with relevant national and international institutions and companies, such as Empa in Switzerland, the University of Girona in Spain, and the University of Aalborg in Denmark. These collaborations have enabled him to establish valuable networks for future research endeavors.

2022/11/21 - 2022/11/25 The FRP++ Integration Week 2022 took place at the University of Naples Federico II, Naples, Italy, between the November 21st and 25th, 2022. It was the first opportunity of bringing all students physically together. The event included a series of activities, namely: i) gaining additional knowledge (e.g. keynote lectures by Profs. Silvestre Pinho from Imperial College London and Anastasios Vassilopoulos from EPFL), ii) performing technical visits (e.g. UNINA labs and ATP Company), iii) social interaction and iv) developing additional soft skills.
