Ana Maria Loureiro da Seca is Associate Professor with Habilitation in Chemistry, at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Azores. She holds a PhD in Chemistry, a Master's degree in Science and Technology of Paper and Forest Products, and a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, specializing in Analytical Chemistry, from the University of Aveiro. She joined the University of the Azores in 1999 as an assistant, progressing to the position of Assistant Professor in 2000 and then Associate Professor in 2023. In 2023, she obtained her Habilitation in Chemistry from the University of Beira Interior. She has received additional training in the areas of: i) medicinal chemistry; ii) information technologies; iii) laboratory safety. Her research activities have been carried out within the Biodiversity Group of the Azores at "cE3c/CHANGE" (integrated member) and at LAQV-REQUIMTE (collaborator), focusing on Natural Product Chemistry, isolating and identifying natural compounds from plants and macroalgae with potential applications in health promotion and/or as biopesticides, thus contributing to the advancement of this field at the University of the Azores. She has participated in the application for funding in competitive contests for about fifteen projects (10 funded). Her research output includes 62 documents indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection and/or Scopus, 8 book chapters with international circulation, 5 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals without impact factor, 3 articles published in proceedings of international conferences, 24 oral presentations, and 71 poster presentations at national and international congresses, all subject to scientific review. Publications span across various research areas, with 80% classified in WoS categories such as medicinal chemistry, multidisciplinary chemistry, and biochemistry, molecular biology. The impact of these publications is reflected in an h-index of 25 and a total of 1989 citations (WoS data). She has served on doctoral and master's degree examination boards at the University of the Azores (3) and beyond (11), as well as on international panels for the evaluation of scholarships and scientific projects (5) and editorial boards of international journals (7), actively participating in peer review processes (221/8 years). In terms of teaching, she has been actively involved in the creation/remodeling of study cycles (4) and courses (6), as well as teaching 28 different courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and supervising students, interns, and fellows (33). Regarding teaching responsibilities, she has led 16 different courses in the areas of: i) analytical chemistry; ii) general chemistry; iii) applied chemistry to biological sciences; iv) biochemistry; and also v) in the area of natural product chemistry and health applications (graduate level). For the courses she led, she developed pedagogical materials from scratch, which were made available to the students. She developed, optimized, and edited all experimental protocols for the "Guide to Practical Work" for all courses she taught. She is a co-editor of 3 internationally circulated books recommended for graduate courses in the field of natural products. She supervised undergraduate students (22) and graduate students (9 successfully completed), currently supervising 3 doctoral students. She supervised 7 professional internships and research fellows, participated in 25 evaluation boards for project work and theses. She also engaged in teaching short courses and training activities at the university level. She participated in 9 scientific outreach activities in schools or for school-aged audiences (lectures, publications, and experimental activities), from elementary to high school, contributing to sparking interest and increasing students' motivation.
