Anastasios Giouvanidis obtained his 5-year Diploma (Dipl.Eng) in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece. Then, he received his Master (MBA) degree from the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, Greece, while working as a structural engineer. He acquired his MPhil in Civil Engineering in 2015 and his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2018 from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). During this period, he also served as a teaching assistant to core Civil Engineering courses and supervised various (~25) undergraduate and postgraduate students. His research falls within the discipline of Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics with a focus on the rocking isolation of structures. His research has made substantial contribution in the field and has already cited by fellow researchers. In particular, my work has been cited 223 times with h-index 6 and i10-index 5 according to Google Scholar (or 146 times with h-index of 5 and i10-index 4 according to Scopus). Anastasios worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at HKUST in collaboration with Prof. Elias Dimitrakopoulos, and at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in collaboration with Prof. You Dong. Currently, Anastasios serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE) of University of Minho (UMinho) in collaboration with Prof. Paulo B. Lourenço, focusing on the analytical and numerical modelling of the out-of-plane dynamic behaviour of masonry walls while supervising 1 PhD student. He possesses advanced analytical and computational skills, while being quick to assimilate new ideas and concepts. Anastasios is an enthusiastic, innovative, and hardworking individual who performs effectively under pressure. Confident working within a team while also being capable of taking initiatives to solve problems and meet deadlines. He is a versatile and dynamic professional with ambitious and creative mind. Some of his research interests include: Rocking Isolation, Bridge Engineering, Masonry, Nonsmooth Dynamics, Analytical (Rigid Body) Dynamics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Shake-Table Testing, Structural Design Optimization, Risk and Reliability, Resilience, Stochastic Analysis, Signal Processing, Machine Learning, among others. His computer skills include use of software such as MATLAB, MS Office, Abaqus, OpenSees, SAP2000, SeismoSignal, Python, Grasshopper, Plaxis, SHAKE2000, Primavera P6, among others.
