Roberta Croce (www.robertacroce.nl) studied chemistry in Padova and completed her Ph.D. in Plant Biology/Biophysics in Milano in 1998. After two postdoc periods in Germany and Italy, she got a permanent position at the CNR. In 2006 she moved to the University of Groningen and since 2011 she is Professor of Biophysics/Photosynthesis at VU Amsterdam. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of photosynthesis, using an integrated approach including molecular biology, biochemistry and ultrafast spectroscopy. She published more than 150 papers. She is a member of the Royal Holland Society of Science and Humanity and recipient of several personal research grants. A short CV is below 1. RESEARCH INTERESTS The main interest of my group is to understand the molecular bases of photosynthesis to extract the building principles of the light to energy conversion machinery and to use them to improve photosynthesis efficiency in algae and crops. In my group we analyze the photosynthetic apparatus, focusing especially on the light reactions, at different levels of complexity, from a single molecule to the whole organism, which can be a bacterial or an algal photosynthetic cell or a plant.
