Peter W. Nathanielsz has researched fetal development for over forty years and was recently named as one of the top 5% of funded NIH investigators in the United States. He wrote the first book for the general reader on Developmental Programming entitled Life in the Womb: The origin of health and disease, published in 1999. For his work on fetal development he has been made a Fellow ad Eundem of the Royal College of Obstetricians in England. Peter W. Nathanielsz is Founding Director of Texas Pregnancy & Life-course Health Research Center. The group is the only one in the world owning adult non-human primate cohorts that were prospectively exposed to different prenatal stressors and are dedicated to study Developmental Programming of Health and Disease in later life. Peter W. Nathanielsz has over 600 peer-reviewed publications (Scopus h-factor 60), 66 reviews and book chapters and over 1000 abstracts. Peter is a renown invited speaker with numerous media presentations and prizes. Of importance, Peter W. Nathanielsz has maintained a consistent primary role in student’s supervision with 91 undergraduate, 25 master and PhD students and 32 postdoctoral trainees, he has always sought to foster collaboration throughout the United States and the whole world to encourage multidisciplinary and multi-institutional approaches.
