Madalena completed her PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2014 at the University of Minho, Portugal. She completed an MSc in Textile Chemistry (2008) and graduated in Chemistry (2001) at the same university. Her scientific research as post-doc researcher has been focused on the development of stable protein formulations and design of novel formulations for cosmetic and industrial applications. From all the research activity, Madalena (co)-authored 18 scientific articles in international peer review journals, 9 of which as first author. From these 9, 6 were after PhD conclusion (8 published in quartile Q1 and 1 in Q3); and 2 scientific article as co-orientation with international University (Jiangnan University- China). Madalena also (co)-authored a chapter book as first author, and has one national patent request. Madalena participated in 6 projects (4 European projects). Due to maternity leave Madalena interrupted her scientific activity twice, in 2013 and 2016.
