Milene Trindade (1983) is a PhD student in History of Art at the University of Évora (CHAIA and HERCULES research centre and laboratory) , writing her dissertation on photographic votive offerings placed in shrines in the south of Portugal. Her PhD project has been supported by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and integrates the doctoral program Heritas - Heritage Studies of the University of Évora and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. She holds a BA degree in Fine Arts – Sculpture from the University of Lisbon, a master in Photography – Conservation of Photography from the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar and a master in Photography, Art and Technique from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). Photography has been her main interest through the study of its history and technique. In 2007 she worked as an intern at Visor Gallery in Valencia. After that, she received a grant for working in Printed Matter organization in New York, where she developed knowledge about artists' books and editions. This work stimulated the creation of the publishing project Editorial Concreta in Spain, 2012. In 2014, she had the opportunity to join the team of conservators in the ARCP - Atelier de Restauration et de Conservation des Photographies of Paris, where she worked under the supervision of the conservators Anne Cartier-Bresson and Marsha Sirven. After this, she returned to Lisbon and worked in the atelier Luís Pavão, Lda, dedicated to the preservation and conservation of photography. Between 2016 and 2018, she was a teacher of historical photographic processes in the BA degree of Photography at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar.
