I graduated in Biochemistry (17/20) in 2019 at Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia (Universidade NOVA de Lisboa) - FCT NOVA. Beetween January and June of 2019 I did an intership at the Metalloproteins and Bioenergetics Unit - ITQB NOVA, in the scope of the final project of my degree, where I developled work on the O2, NO and H2O2 detoxification mechanisms of a flavodiiron protein from Firmicutes bacterium CAG:103. In the second half of 2019 I started a Master in Biochemistry for Health at ITQB NOVA (Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica; Universidade Nova de Lisboa). In the second year of the Master, I joined the Microbial and Enzyme Technology (MET Lab) group at ITQB NOVA, where I was under the supervision of Patrícia Borges and Ligia Martins. The goals of the Master were the determination of the first crystal structure of a bacterial Pyranose 2-Oxidase (in collaboration with the Structural Biology Lab at ITQB), as well as the study of its biophysical properties and proposal of new variants by rational and semi-rational design. In 2022 (January) I successfully defended my Master's thesis entitled "Insight into the biophysical properties of AsP2Ox, a candidate enzyme for health diagnosis biosensors" (18/20). From December 2021 until August 2022, I did a 9 months secondment at Zymvol Biomodeling (Barcelona, Spain), as a project fellow of MET lab, in the frame of the B-LigZymes RISE European Commission Project, where I pursued knowledge on molecular modeling, as well as its application in enzymatic engineering. Docking and molecular dynamics are some of the tools learned. In October 2022 I completed a course in Python for Data Science, certified by UCSanDiegoX. I'm currently a second year PhD student at Met Lab (in colaboration with Zymvol Biomodeling), enroled in the ITQB-NOVA Molecular Biosciences (MolBioS) doctoral program. My PhD project can be defined as an iterative computational and laboratory engineering of bacterial oxidases towards biotechnological applications. I attended some international conferences and workshops where I was able to do poster and oral presentations, mainly abroad. My first arcticle publication, and as first author, was published on Nature Communication on 2023.
