I am currently a Postdoctoral researcher in Structural Engineering at ISISE and a senior member of the Italian Association of Professional Engineers, working on the ERC project Stand4Heritage. I obtained my MSc in Architectural Engineering at the Univ. Calabria (UNICAL, Italy) in 2015, discussing a thesis focusing on the seismic vulnerability assessment of monumental masonry structures. In 2019, I got my PhD at UNICAL, with the dissertation "Crack propagation modelling in layered structures by using moving mesh method". The project focused on developing numerical models based on using a moving mesh approach to predict delamination and crack kinking propagation layered structures. Thanks to the PhD school's multidisciplinary nature, I successively promoted a collaborative initiative with the architectural research group of UNICAL, focusing on developing an innovative procedure to generate a computational mesh starting from a discrete 3D model obtained from Laser Scanner or Digital Photogrammetry. These collaborations, in the framework of cultural heritage, allowed me to strongly improve my skills in survey techniques, as well as the most recent approaches in 3D modelling such as polygonal and NURBS modelling. During my PhD program, I spent two research periods abroad at the Univ. Dundee (8 months), starting a profitable collaboration with Dr Saverio Spadea. While I was working there, I conducted some experimental tests to detect elastic and fracture properties of different kinds of cellular materials. In the last 3 years, I supervised 3 MSc students, and I served as a mentor for students ranging from BSc to PhD students. Furthermore, I served as a teacher in four higher education institutions (UNICAL, Univ. Dundee, Polit. Bari, Univ. Minho), delivering lectures on structural analysis techniques, FEM, dynamic of the structures, theory of plasticity and visual programming, After my PhD defence, in parallel to the research activities developed at the UNICAL and ReLUIS (Italian Network on Seismic and Structural Engineering Labs), I worked as a structural engineer consultant. I performed the seismic assessments and designed the retrofitting/strengthening interventions for more than ten structures made of a range of different materials (masonry, steel, and concrete). My strong commitment to research has allowed me to publish more than 30 scholarly papers in the last 5 years, showing relevant impact in the scientific literature (H-index = 13 and >400 citations, Scopus). In particular, I published 28 articles in peer-reviewed Journals, 6 conference papers, and 3 chapters in the last 6 years and presented my research results in 7 international conferences. The 5 participations as corresponding-author in the last 2 years, 22 participations as first-author and diverse range of topics in the last 6 years, attest to my research independence and proactivity at such an early stage of my career, and place me in a unique position to complete the proposed project.
