João S. Resende is an assistant professor at University of Porto (FCUP and FEUP) previously he was an assistant professor at Nova University of Lisbon in the section of Computer Systems Architecture and an integrated member at Nova Lincs. Currently, advising 3 PhD student with grants from FCT with co-advisors such as João Gama, Henrique Domingos and Osman Yagan. Previously he was a researcher in the Center of Competence in Cyber Security and Privacy (C3P). Where, he managed the project CyberSec4Europe, which is one of the four pilots focusing on creating a Network of Cybersecurity Competence. His background specialisation focuses on cybersecurity and distributed systems. He finished his Masters in Computer Science with the topic "Secure communications in VoIP", and he concluded his Ph.D. in Computer Science, with the topic "Security Enhancing Technologies for Cloud-of-Clouds". His Ph.D. was done with a collaborative effort between three Portuguese Universities Minho, Aveiro, and Porto under the principal supervision of Luís Antunes and Rolando Martins. His main focus of research in the last years is focused on how the transitions from the IoT device up to the cloud are processed and how we can be resilient in the cloud (advantage of the cloud-of-clouds). The most recent publications include "Hardware Security for Internet of Things Identity Assurance" in IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials and "Host-based IDS: A review and open issues of an anomaly detection system in IoT" in Future Generation Computer Systems
