Martin Quaas is head of the Biodiversity Economics research group at the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv). He did his PhD in Economics at the University of Heidelberg in 2004, followed by Postdocs at the Department of Ecological Modelling, UFZ-Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research Leipzig, and Tilburg University, The Netherlands. His research focuses on sustainability in human-nature relationships, especially sustainable fisheries and climate economics. Since 2007, he has published 94 articles in peer-reviewed international journals such as Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists, Environmental and Resource Economics, Ecological Economics, PLoS ONE, European Economic Review, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Global Environmental Change, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, among many others. His work is extensively cited: 2051 citations - Web of Science (1 January 2021) and 4474 citations - Google Scholar( 1 January 2021). He is a member of the editorial board of Review of Environmental Economics and Policy since 2021, and of Natural Resource Modeling since 2016. He is co-editor of the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management since 2019 and an associate editor of Marine and Resource Economics since 2018. Previously, he was an associate editor of Environment and Development Economics (2013-2018) and a member of the editorial board of Journal of Environmental Economics and Management (2016-2018). He has been a principal supervisor of 10 PhD students and a secondary supervisor of 18 PhD students.
