Ivan Miguel Serrano Pires is Invited Adjunct Professor at Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, Viseu, Portugal. At 2010, he obtained the BSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering, at Escola Superior de Tecnologia de Castelo Branco, Castelo Branco, Portugal. At 2012, he obtained the MSc degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Universidade da Beira Interior. During the MSc degree, he was starting the research studies related to Ambient Assisted living, developing a mobile application that collects different sensor’s signals and measures the energy expenditure, distance travelled and the time of vertical jumps. At 2018, he obtained a European PhD degree in Computer Science and Engineering, at Universidade da Beira Interior, with a research related to Ambient Assisted Living, using sensors available in mobile devices, data fusion and data classification techniques for the recognition of activities of daily living. At 2014, he participates in a regional challenge for entrepreneurship in Castelo Branco and their team obtained the 2nd place with a project named “FAT’s” that consists in a mobile application that measures results of different tests used by physiotherapists. Between 2014 and 2019, he also worked for Altranportugal, Fundão, Portugal. Between February 2019 and September 2019, he frequented a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at C4 – Cloud Computing Competence Centre, Universidade da Beira Interior with a subject related to Passing Cloud. The subject was related to the use of sensors embedded on mobile devices for the monitoring of traffic warning situation by car. At September 2019, he started working as Invited Adjunct Professor at Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, Viseu, Portugal. His research studies are related to the identification of a set of activities of daily living using sensors and a mobile device, using different techniques, such as sensors data fusion, sensors data imputation and techniques to identify the different patterns of movement. His research is about the use of the sensors available in the mobile devices for traffic management with Cloud technologies and recognition of activities of daily living. He was co-supervisor of BSc projects at Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal, and supervisor of BSc students and curricular stages of students from Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, Viseu, Portugal. He is co-supervisor of a MSc project at Escola Superior de Tecnologia de Castelo Branco, Castelo Branco, Portugal.
